It&#8217;s used by systems such as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dspace.org\/\">DSpace<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.doi.org\/\">DOI<\/a>.&nbsp; In some ways, it&#8217;s a competitor to existing DNS-based ways of providing persistent URIs.<\/p>\n<p>The code examples I&#8217;ve written demonstrate how to download OpenHandle data in <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/openhandle\/wiki\/OpenHandleCodeFSharp\">F#<\/a> and in <a href=\"http:\/\/code.google.com\/p\/openhandle\/wiki\/OpenHandleCodeCSharp\">C#<\/a>.
